Getting started

e12eQuiz stores every quiz in your online account, so you can open your quizzes on any device.

  1. Create an account or sign in with email and password, or with Google.
  2. Open your account menu from the avatar in the header to manage your profile.
  3. Select New quiz to open the builder and start writing questions.
  4. Use the floating New quiz menu to create a quiz by hand or generate a draft with AI.
  • You need to be signed in to create, edit, take, or import quizzes.
  • Your language and theme choices are remembered in this browser.

Create and edit a quiz

The builder lets you write questions, choose a question type, and set the correct answers.

  1. Add a title, and optionally a description.
  2. Choose the simple editor or the rich text editor for formatting, images, and code blocks.
  3. Choose a question type from the dropdown: Single choice, Multiple choices, Order answers, Enter answer, or Matching game.
  4. For Single choice, add 2 to 6 options and mark exactly one correct answer.
  5. For Multiple choices, add 2 to 6 options and mark one or several correct answers.
  6. For Order answers, add 2 to 6 items in the correct order. Use the arrows to arrange them while building.
  7. For Enter answer, add the accepted answers. Typing any of them counts as correct.
  8. For Matching game, add at least 2 pairs and choose how many pairs to show at a time. Each correct pair earns the points you set for the question, and matched pairs fade out so new pairs appear.
  9. Add explanations to answer options when you want to explain the result.
  10. Set a time limit for the whole quiz or for each question when you want one. Leave the field empty for no limit.
  11. Set the points for each question and the minimum total points to pass the quiz. For Matching game, the points field sets the points for each correct pair.
  12. Turn on instant feedback, answer letters, question shuffling, or answer shuffling as needed.
  13. Select Save quiz. You can edit a saved quiz at any time from the quiz list.
  • A quiz must keep at least one question.
  • Single choice, Multiple choices, and Order answers questions need at least two options.
  • Enter answer questions need at least one accepted answer.
  • Switching a Multiple choices question to Single choice keeps only the first correct answer.

Take a quiz

Quizzes run one question at a time with progress tracking and a full review at the end.

  1. Select Start quiz on a quiz card.
  2. Choose your answer, arrange the items with the arrows, or type your answer.
  3. Select Next question. On the last question, select Finish quiz.
  4. Read the score, points, pass result, and performance message on the result screen.
  5. Open Review answers to compare your choices with the correct answers and explanations.
  6. Select Retake quiz to start again with a clean attempt.
  • If a question time limit is set, the app moves to the next question when the time ends.
  • If a whole quiz time limit is set, the quiz finishes and shows the result when the time ends.
  • When instant feedback is enabled, an answer is checked and locked right away.
  • Order answers questions always start in a mixed order.
  • Enter answer questions accept any of the saved accepted answers, ignoring case and extra spaces.
  • When shuffling is enabled, the order can change on each attempt.

Account and alias

Your avatar in the header opens a small menu for account settings and sign-out. Your alias is a unique name created for your account.

  1. Select your avatar in the header, then select Account settings.
  2. Change your alias or display name, then select Save changes.
  3. Use the same menu to sign out when you are finished.
  • An alias uses 3 to 24 lowercase letters, numbers, or underscores.
  • Every alias is unique. If a name is already taken, choose another one.
  • Your email and display name are private to your account.

Import quizzes

You can import one or many quizzes from a JSON file that follows the quiz template.

  1. Download the template from the import guide to see the expected format.
  2. Fill in one quiz object, or an array of quiz objects, using the template fields.
  3. Set the question type to choice, ordering, text, or matching. Use acceptedAnswers for text questions and pairs for matching questions.
  4. Select Import quiz to open the guide, then choose the JSON file.
  5. Fix any error message that appears, then import again.
  • If any quiz in the file is invalid, nothing from that file is imported.
  • Imported quizzes receive new identifiers and are added to your account.

Tags and folders

Organize your quizzes with tags and nested folders, then switch between the normal and folder views.

  1. Add tags in the quiz builder to label the topic.
  2. Choose a folder for the quiz, or leave it without a folder.
  3. Open the quiz list and select Folders.
  4. Use the floating Show folders button to open the folder tree in a dialog.
  5. Click a folder to select it and close the dialog. Only the selected folder's quizzes are shown.
  6. Use the arrow button to the left of a folder to expand or collapse its subfolders. The root arrow collapses or expands all folders.
  7. Use the buttons in the selected folder area to create a subfolder, rename the folder, or delete it.
  8. Use New folder to create a top-level folder.
  9. Use Move on a quiz card to move it into another folder.
  10. Type in the search box to find quizzes in the selected folder by name, description, or tag.
  • Deleting a folder moves its quizzes and subfolders to the parent folder.
  • Only first-level folders open at first; deeper folders start collapsed.
  • On mobile, use the three-dot button for folder actions.
  • Search ignores letter case.

Troubleshooting

Most problems come from a missing sign-in or a connection problem. Try these checks first.

  1. Confirm that the avatar in the header shows your account.
  2. Reload the page and try the action again.
  3. Check your internet connection, then retry loading or saving.
  4. If the problem continues, send a help ticket from the form below.
  • Rich text images are stored inside the quiz. Very large images can make saving slower.
  • If a page says the quiz was not found, it may have been deleted from your account.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to use e12eQuiz?

Yes. Quizzes are stored online only, so you need to sign in to create, edit, take, or import quizzes.

Where are my quizzes stored?

Your quizzes are stored in your online account. They are not saved in this browser, so clearing browser data does not remove them.

Can I open my quizzes on another device?

Yes. Sign in with the same account on another device and your quizzes will be available.

What is an alias?

An alias is a short unique name for your account. e12eQuiz creates one for you, and you can change it in account settings.

How do I change my alias?

Select your avatar in the header, open Account settings, change the alias, and save. The new alias must not be used by another account.

Yes. Use the JSON import on the quiz list. The import also accepts the older quiz format with plain text options and correctIndex.

Why can I not save or load my quizzes?

Check that you are signed in and that your connection is working. Reload the page and try again. If it still fails, send a help ticket.

Does the app support other languages and themes?
